Forestgotchi, Morino gotchi, Tamagotchi Garden
Updated 22 June 1998
Welcome to my forestgotchi pages. I have one forestgotchi since 15 June. I got one from the WELCOME TO GOODS STORE for a very good price. They send it to me within 5 days and I even live in Holland, imagine how fast they ship to America! I could pay afterwards and just changed my money into US dollars and put the bills in an envelope.
I hope to make this page as informative and inspiring as my angelgotchi pages. If you are a true collector you must have this version of tamagotchi. It isn't as simple as an angelgotchi, more expressions then a tama, well I will compare all of the differences on an other part of this page. Please read it carefully and buy one too!!!

Why the Forestgotchi was made : The forestgotchi pictures where released at about the same time as the angelgotchi and oceangotchi's. But the Angelgotchi was released sooner. Probably because the Angelgotchi was more popular.
More about the Forestgotchi : It has a motion sensor just like the Angelgotchi, but you need to use it less often. Only when the preditor appears you have to scare it away by tapping the egg. Anew feature is that after a few seconds after you press the buttons the screens changes into two leaves on each side and an dot flying in between. If your Forestgotchi is still an egg the dot won't move. You can selest up to 16 different types of food.
Forestgotchi compared to other Tamagotchi versions :
The colors | The American colors: There
is a pink one with yellow
buttons and purple trim and flowers and leaves on it. There's
a white one with yellow buttons
and pink trim and leaves on it. There's a yellow one with purple buttons and an orange trim and leaves on it and there is a pink
one with orange buttons and purple
trim and leaves on it. The Japanese colors : There are yellow with orange buttons and orange trim and leaves and white characters one them. There is a white one with yellow buttons and yellow trim and morino tamagotch and characters on it. There is a brown one with yellow buttons and yellow trim and morino tamagotchi and a character on it. And there is a yellow one with brown buttons and brown trim leaves all over it and morino tamagotchi on it. I think the American colors are better. |
The characters | Your game starts out with two eggs you can choose
between one is dotted and the other is plain. The dotted one will grow up to be the horned
character and nothing else. You can only check size of bug in millimeters. The plain one can grow into twelve different characters. But you can see on the growthcharts that the American version will differ a lot from the Japanese. I think the Japanese is better because you get all characters by choosing the temerature right. |
The moves | Yes the Forestgotchi has it own moves too. So far I only saw it screaming for attention when it needed attention. It had it's little mouth wide open, but didn't beep, maybe I had it on silent mode. The leaf screen is a bit of a move too and I think it is way cooler then the Tamagotchi which didn't had any moves. I assume the leaf screen is to save battery energy, because when your bug is sleeping it turns on the leaf screen too. There can also be some sort of bugspray and he sprays on your little dot, after that your bug gets sick. |
Attention | In a baby stage he looses one heart per hour. So he doesn't need a lot of attention, but when the spraycan comes along (about 5 times a day till now) he gets sprayed and sick. The box with the question mark icon will be on. It needs less attention then an angel, but dies quickly if you don't cure his sickness. |
Icons | Better arranged then Tamagotchi, but a bit different then Angelgotchi. First meter, then apple for food, then hat for play, then toilet for clean, then box with a questionmark on it for attention, then a leaf with a cross on it for medicine, then a sun and a moon for lights out/on, then an attention icon with a horned guy screaming. |
Meter | You first check hunger and happiness measured in leaves, not hearts. So not only the measurement is different also the order of appearance. Then you get the screen with a bug on a scale, age in days and weight in milligrams. |
Food | Icon is an apple with a bite out of it. You can give a lot of different sorts of food, probably the best feature of the Forestgotchi. You start out with a leaf, when your bug changed the first time, you can feed it leaf and cherry, the same day this changes a few times, the leaf stays, the cherry becomes berries, icecream and cherry again. |
Game | Instead of choosing left or right and play
the games five times(tama), you pick one out of four hats, under which a leaf can be. You
play this game four times and when you win two you get an extra "heart". You
don't get two "hearts" when you picked four right hats(angel). You don't see your score(angel) but see four little bugs with horns coming by and a beep for right or wrong. The game can be played without watching a big thumbs up compared to the angel. |
Toilet | The bug doesn't pray before he goes(angel) he goes like the Tamagotchi, it moves its butt to the right and closes its eyes, then when he is done he is very happy. The poop looks normal. |
Box ? | It lights when the preditor or when the spraycan is on the screen. |
Medicine | When your pet is sick, and that is quite often it looks striped, like a mummy. You only have to give it one shot and it is well again. |
Lights | When your pets asleep the leaf screen turns on. |
Differences between American and Japanese version
The left I made with help from the Forestsale sheet. The right I made with help of a page on the Japanese Banadi site.
The American growthchart : | The Japanese growthchart : |
It looks like the normal growth like in Tamas and angels. | It looks totally different from what we seen before. |
Different stages on it's way to adulthood. Baby-todler-cocoon-another cocoon-two adolesence-five adult-four secrets | Different stages on it's way to adulthood. Baby-todler-cocoon-four adult for warm and four for cold-no secrets |
No remarks about the different eggs | Clearly states that from th white egg you can only get the horned character. |
Has a twin character | Has no twin character, but doesn have two similar characters. |
More about my forestgotchi : Mine is white with brown writing, hmm not all that pretty, but I am going to make it very pretty. It will be blue with golden curls, but I want it to mature first, because when the paint is drying I can't take care of my forestgotchi. I will make pictures of the proces of painting for my kousaku pages. Mine died once now and it is a white worm now. I still don't have names, but I'll think of some.
Where to get an Forestgotchi : I got it at the WELCOME TO GOODS STORE. Very quick and I could pay afterwards. I can recommend this store I always did, but now I know for certain, they are very trustworthy.
How to get an special character : This is the fun part about Forestgotchi. I really have no clue about secret characters, so they are really secret. I will tell you how to get each character on my Forestgotchi Diary page.
About the release : Pictures of the forestgotchi egg designs where released a year ago with the pictures of the angelgotchi and the oceangotchi. They were said to come out all at once, but Bandai decided to wait with the release of the forest and ocean. All kinds of starnge stories went around, like you had to keep the forest in a glass of water or that they will be realeased in the same egg or that they won't be released as eggs but as a ganeboy game. As far as I know only the latter is true, in Japan there is a gameboy version of the oceangotchi.
More about the Forestgotchi : It is released in a Japanese and American version and there are no rumours of them changing other than in appearance. It has a sound sensor to scare of the preditor, which wants to get your Forestgotchi and you have to tap it away, just like the bat with the Angelgotchi. There is no information about if the American Forestgotchi has a touchscreen or a sound sensor.
About the characters : I think it's very confusing because Bandai has released different information about the forestgotchi. I made a growthchart from both. Look at all the differences!! The American growthchart says the Forestgotchi has 4 secret characters. The Japanese growthchart says there are none.
About the preditor : When you see the "spray" of insectiside, you should press A and B together otherwise it will get sick, or you have to tap the egg I don't know exactly I just now I pressed and banged it on a wall when I saw the "spray" again and it was gone without my pet being sick and there was a happy sound, like I did a good thing!!
I'll make a page about the Oceangotchi too. I heard the oceangotchi is hard to raise till adulthood, it is almost impossible to get it older then 4 or 5 days. Too bad!!
